Why do some clients choose not to use insurance for therapy?
There are a few reasons some people opt to pay out of pocket, even when they have coverage:
1. More privacy. Insurance companies may request access to your records. For those in sensitive jobs or with privacy concerns, that can feel uncomfortable.
2. No required diagnosis. To use insurance, therapists must assign a mental health diagnosis. But not all struggles (like burnout, identity shifts, or communication issues) qualify as a formal disorder.
3. You set the pace- not insurance. Coverage often limits how many sessions you get and how often. Paying privately gives you more flexibility in your healing process.
Why don’t you accept insurance for couples therapy?
Most insurance plans don’t fully cover couples therapy, and when they do, it often requires one partner to be diagnosed with a mental health disorder- even if that’s not the issue at hand. We believe relationships deserve support without having to pathologize either person. Paying privately allows us to focus on your relationship, not a diagnosis or insurance restrictions.
Where do you offer therapy?
Online Therapy is available anywhere in Florida.
In-Person Therapy is available in Miami (Coral Gables).
BCBS Massachusetts clients your plan is accepted for online sessions only.
Do I have to live in Miami to work with you?
Nope! If you live anywhere in Florida, you can work with us online.
Is online therapy confidential?
Yes. We use a secure, HIPAA- compliant platform to keep your sessions safe and private.
How long does therapy usually take?
It depends. Some people come for just a few sessions to work through a specific issue. Others stay longer to work on deeper patterns or transitions. We’ll figure out what’s right for you together.
Do you prescribe medication?
No. As licensed marriage and family therapists, we do’t prescribe medication. But we’re happy to refer you to a psychiatrist or medical provider if you’re interested in that option.
